Das Projekt Wanzendrohne nutzt das Verhalten der Wanzen aus: Sie lassen sich bei starken Vibrationen reflexartig fallen. Konkret soll ein Bodenroboter eine Drohne nahe an die befallenen Obstbäume transportieren, die die Wanzen dann durch Vibrationen dazu bringt, sich fallen zu lassen. Von dort kann sie der Roboter schließlich aufsammeln.
