The AI Precision Health Institute at the University of Hawai'i Cancer Center uses advanced technologies including AI, ML, and DL to improve the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Our mission is to reduce cancer in Hawaii and the Pacific Islands by identifying those at high risk, reducing risk through novel interventions, and detecting cancer early when it's most treatable and survivable.
The AI PHI seeks to fulfill this mission by:
Validating AI cancer risk and detection models in our population with its unique ethnic and cultural qualities
Developing AI models using data from our region when other models are found to be inadequate
Supporting the use of AI in our region for cancer related projects by offering pilot project funding
Providing technical support and physical resources to students and faculty to accomplish their pilot projects
Collaborating with academic and industry partners that support our mission.
