Situated in Jena, Thuringia, the University of Jena is one of the oldest universities in Germany. Its full name is Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, after the poet Friedrich Schiller who served as a professer of philosophy. It is a full university, though with particular expertise in technological areas related to optics, glass manufacture and biotechnology.
