1GCYBER researches cybersecurity skills in developing countries. Researchers recently published work that explored Latin America and the Caribbean. Key findings include improving support for cybersecurity education, establishing coordination and collaboration between the public and private sectors, improving information-sharing structures, and creating an inventory of critical infrastructure assets at a national level.
Our new framework addresses these concerns by examining national cybersecurity strategy, the current state of the cyber workforce (skill set), cybersecurity challenges, and the current impact of cybercrime on economic sectors. Governments and stakeholders in developing countries can benefit from this framework because of its external and internal validity.
Cybersecurity is a driver of economic growth and organizations must take full advantage of it. A strategy for differentiation must include workforce skills development. Although it is challenging to measure cybersecurity competency across the organization, employee knowledge and skills are inputs to cybersecurity governance.
We are intrinsically motivated to explore and investigate the challenges of developing cybersecurity and governance programs. The governance frameworks provide guidance, but organizations require professionals. Let us analyze the gaps in your governance program to develop tailored cybersecurity roadmaps intrinsically.
