Eyde Material Park is a next generation industrial park located in southern Norway. Here we have a surplus of renewable energy, expert communities, and a good work-life balance. Eyde Material Park is centred around the upcoming battery giga-factory, Morrow Batteries. The industrial park is therefore well suited to accommodate companies working in the value chain for battery materials. The park is located right outside Arendal, and is connected to the EU by the local port of Eydehavn. Green companies needs blue sustainable transport. The park also has ambitious goals in being sustainable thanks to industrial symbiosis, meaning that the companies located here can benefit from each others resources. This could be materials, energy or heath. As en example, the excess heath created from the giga factory could be used to warm a greenhouse producing food. Clustering together also means less transport, cutting both costs and emissions. Eyde Material Park also offer a potential solution to creating a sustainable value chain for lithium-ion batteries. Norway has the highest amount of EV’s per capita, this means that Norway is the country where we will have a large amount of used battery cells. This creates a unique opportunity for residual use and recycling. By recycling battery materials from used battery cells we can in the future create new batteries only by using already used materials. Eyed Material Park is a partnership with land-owners, companies, Arendal Port, and Arendal municipality. The name Eyde is taken from industrial entrepreneur and founder of Hydro and Arendal local Sam Eyde who pioneered Norwegian industry. Now a new industrial adventure awaits.
